Philosophy and Religion

These are some of the many religion-related reference resources that can be found in the BRCC library. You cannot check out reference books, but remember that scanning is free in the library! You can scan any pages you need and save them to your flash drive or email them to your BRCC webmail account.

Oxford's Very Short Introductions offers concise and original introductions to a wide range of subjects. Not simply a textbook of definitions, each volume provides trenchant and provocative--yet always balanced and complete--discussions of the central issues in a given topic. Every Very Short Introduction gives a readable evolution of the subject in question, demonstrating how it has developed and influenced society.

Like most academic libraries, BRCC library resources are arranged using Library of Congress Classification. In this classification system, the first two letters of a resource's call number describe the subject. When searching for library materials related to religion, students can browse the B section, which includes works on philosophy, psychology, and religion. (You can see an example in the Oxford and reference resources to the right. Note the call numbers all begin with B.)
